about the brand
Our brand was established back in 2017 in the Midwest, more
specifically– the Kansas City suburbs. Formally "Lola + Finn Paperie,"
originated with snarky, bold custom-illustrated greeting cards + postcards. These ideas were all original ipad-drawn illustrations by Randah, the creative gal behind the brand and printed locally in KC. The brand name was inspired by her sweet dog, Lola, and supportive husband, Finn. Each year, she had participated in dozens of craft fair + pop-ups, which allowed her to network, build relationships and create a name and reputation for her brand. Randah knew she wanted to broaden her ideas and challenge herself with different mediums. In 2019, she experimented for the first time since high school with polymer clay and fell in LOVE all over again. The possibilities were endless and creating with a tactile medium felt very therapeutic. Each design was carefully created by hand in her in-home studio by various inspirations and ideas including her love of floral print, glitter, and abstract shapes. Her grandparents were also so-called hoarders (love you grandma if you're reading this) and was often passed-down lots and lots of beautiful vintage clothes, which definitely fueled her love for vintage and inspired her work. In January 2021, Randah wanted to change her business name to something that better "fit" her brand. That's when "Randah O'Doherty Creative" was introduced and was given a chance for a rebrand.
Randah grew up in Iowa and moved to Kansas City in 2017; the year she also got married to Finn. It was a big year for change! ha. She has a BFA in Graphic Design and Fine Arts, which gave her thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and an eye for design trends. She is currently working full-time as an in-house Graphic Designer for a publishing company in Kansas City. She is a one-woman show with her jewelry/design biz and it's also a side gig. She spends a lot of late-nights creating art after her 9-5, but she loves what she does. She is also on the Board of Directors for AIGA KC as the Director for Entries and a freelance designer for Babes Helpin' Babes in Kansas City. Some of her favorite hobbies outside of design are thrift-shoppin' (obsessed with the 60s and 70s), traveling (including living in Ireland for a year), going to the movies (cannot wait to get back once it's safe), trying new things/restaurants, and meeting new people.
